This resource describes an attempted invasion of Echizen by the remnants of the Kai family, who had been aiming at such a move for some time. The document lays out the fact that this invasion was entirely `out of order, and exceedingly unusual`, and that all one could do about it was to pray to the gods and hope for the best. The diary, written by a priest of Kōfukuji, outlines the two armies and where they were situated (which, by looking at the geography of the borderlands between Kaga and Echizen, shows that they were mostly assembled along the border itself). Note that the Kai army mostly consisted of forces from within Kaga, which means that there were sympathizers with the Kai family in Nōmi gun and Enuma gun, and that both of these were prepared to join forces with the Kai to oust the Asakura. Its possible that there were Ikkō shū members within the Kai forces, however since the diary does not detail the origins of the Kai army we can only speculate as to where its forces were drawn from. At any rate, it appears that there was some calm within Echizen up until the 10th month. Then news arrived in Mino from Echizen that the Kai had invaded Echizen and that a battle had been held, in which the Asakura had lost around 300 men. A second battle had been fought soon after, in which the Kai had lost 500 men and two notable leaders. This loss had forced the Kai to retreat back into Kaga. The Aasakura had been praised for their defence, with Saitō Toshikuni particularly pleased with their efforts (the Saitō at this point were rulers over Mino).
Another two messengers had then arrived in the 11th month with further details. It appears that the Kai had attempted to invade Ōno gun and fought a battle. Then on the 21st day (of the tenth month) a second battle had been fought at Toyoharaji, within the temple precinct. It had been described as a `large battle`. Both sides had lost around 60 to 70 men, with many losses coming from among the kokujin classes, and some losses coming from among the rōnin. The Kai had then retreated to Kaga.

「後慈眼院殿御記」（ごじがんじんどの）明応三年十一月十二日条・十九日条 (Gōjiganjin Dono, Meiō 3, 12th and 29th days of the 11th month, 1494)

十二日、晴、（中略）越前國錯亂しおわぬ、朝倉同名等六十三人滅亡、甲斐同名二十餘

This is essentially another version of the events of the 10th month of 1494. According to the news heard by the author, Echizen was in turmoil, with 63 members of the Asakura family dead, and some 20 or so members of the Kai family killed. According to rumour, the Asakura had won the encounter (or avoided ill fortune), whilst the Kai had already been defeated, and were said to be in retreat to Kaga.
